Dating vintage fender stratocaster
Numbers from L00001 to L20000 indicate that the guitar was made in 1963, L20000 to L55000 mean it was built in 1964 and L55000 to L99999 date the guitar to 1965.
Gold Fender peghead decal thicker than previous "spaghetti" logo. Plastic white three layer pickguard replaces celluloid. Maple fingerboard optional (2 piece neck, no "skunk stripe").
Black Fender peghead decal with 2 patent numbers (2,741,146 & 3,143,028).
"F" style tuning gears replaces "Kluson-Deluxe" gears. 3 bolt neck with micro-tilt replaces 4 bolt system.
Walnut "skunk stripe" down back of neck where truss rod was installed.
Single layer, white vinyl pickguard with 8 attachment screws. Each nickel plated saddle is stamped "Fender Pat Pend" (note reissue models are stamped "Fender Fender"). Vinyl plastic knobs and pickup covers replace "bakelite".
Telecasters with these numbers were made from 1965 to 1976.
